Applications are now open for the selection process for two postdoctoral fellowship positions at the Center for Favela Studies (CEFAVELA). This is one of the new Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Centers (CEPID) of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), headquartered at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), with a focus on studying favelas.
Brazilian and international candidates with a Ph.D. obtained within the past seven years are eligible to apply. The application deadline is February 21, 2025.

Applicants must choose only one of the following projects for submission:
- Project 1: “Environmental Sanitation in Favelas” – this research project aims to generate new knowledge about the technological, political, socioeconomic and institutional dynamics that guide contemporary transformations in the structure of provision and financing of environmental sanitation services in Brazil in general, and their impacts on universal access to services in Brazilian favelas in particular.
- Project 2: ESTIMA-Favelas: Multidimensional Estimates of Housing Needs in Favelas” – this research project aims to develop a conceptual and analytical framework to advance the understanding, analysis, and frequent monitoring of housing needs in favelas.
Selected candidates will receive a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship with a monthly stipend of R$12,000.00 and a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual fellowship amount, intended to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activity.
